Pulling a hub assembly often requires the vehicle raised to full or near-full lift height so the tech can work standing upright with a slide hammer or bearing press positioned underneath the wheel well, and on trucks and SUVs that means real height.

For a typical two-post lift with a 72-inch rise, you need roughly 13.5 to 14 feet of clear ceiling height once you account for the lift’s overall height, the vehicle’s height at full rise, and a safety margin above the tech’s head for swinging a breaker bar or maneuvering a press tool. We measured a northeast Iowa dealership’s service bay at 14 feet 2 inches to the lowest truss intersection — enough clearance for a 72-inch rise lift, but tight enough that we specified a slightly shorter overall-height column to keep a comfortable margin.
