A slab that’s fine for parking cars is often not fine for anchoring a two-post lift rated for 9,000 to 12,000 pounds, which is common for the battery-heavy EVs coming through the border corridor. ALI certification standards require the installer to verify slab thickness, cure time, and rebar or mesh placement before anchors go in — it’s not optional paperwork, it’s structural.

We’ve walked into shops where the owner assumed a poured floor from the 1990s would be interchangeable with new construction. In reality, older slabs may have degraded compressive strength, unknown rebar depth, or hairline cracks that aren’t visible until you core-drill for an anchor bolt and hit a void.
