Rebar: What It Means for Your Anchor Points

Rebar isn’t automatically a dealbreaker, but it changes how we approach anchoring. If a scan shows rebar directly under a planned anchor bolt location, we shift the column a few inches rather than drilling through it, since a bolt anchored into or near rebar without proper clearance can compromise the hold strength exactly where you need it most. For a lift being used for regular service work, that risk is manageable with careful placement. For a lift holding vehicles up for weeks during seasonal storage, we treat it as non-negotiable.

We also explained to the shop owner why older slabs, especially ones poured decades ago without today’s reinforcement standards, sometimes need a core sample or at minimum a visual inspection of any existing cracks before you trust them with sustained heavy loads. Lock Engagement and Long-Term Storage Habits

This shop’s storage need was tied directly to seasonal tire changeover volume, meaning certain months bring a surge of vehicles that need somewhere to sit while customers wait for their turn. Using an atlas two post car lift for that overflow storage only works if the shop has a clear system for which bay handles active service and which handles storage, so techs aren’t accidentally trying to work under a vehicle that’s parked there for the month.
