Why a commercial-shop owner wants a second lift at home

He runs a diesel shop that stays booked six weeks out. When his own truck needs an oil pan gasket or his son wants to swap a transmission on a project pickup, they cannot pull production capacity to do it. Every hour a bay is down for a family project is money the shop is not making. This is the story we hear from every heavy-duty owner who eventually buys an at-home lift. Anchor kit, roughly $150. Adapter set including truck-frame stack blocks, another two hundred fifty to three hundred fifty dollars depending on how many stackers he wanted. Freight from our Iowa warehouse to his Missouri site ran him in the low hundreds because we could put it on a return truck we already had going that direction. That combined equipment cost, before install labor, was roughly five thousand delivered.

Add the slab pour, which he was already paying for as part of his shop build. A lift-rated pad section adds maybe two hundred to four hundred dollars versus a standard-thickness pour, mostly in concrete volume. Add electrical: a thirty-amp 220V single-phase circuit from panel to lift, roughly three hundred to six hundred dollars if his electrician was already on-site for the shop. Add install labor from our crew, in the mid-hundreds because his slab was fresh and clean. Fourth, and this one catches most first-time buyers, is the adapter set for the vehicles you actually plan to lift. A generic adapter set comes with a lift. If you are working on a lifted 3500 with 40-inch tires, a Miata, and a farm ute, you may need three different stack-block configurations, and the tall-frame stackers for a lifted truck are not cheap. First-year maintenance, first-year value, and what he does now

First-year maintenance on a properly-installed lift is genuinely minimal. Grease the arm pivots at the intervals in the manual, check the cable tension on a two-post at six months, and inspect the arm restraints for engagement. That is a two-hour job you can do in an afternoon with a grease gun and a wrench. He did his own at the six-month mark and reported everything tight, no visible wear. We rolled a tech out at the twelve-month for a formal ALI-style inspection because he wanted the paperwork for his shop insurance, which added a few hundred dollars annually.

What he does with the lift now is more than what he originally planned. His son runs projects on it weeknights while he cooks dinner. Neighbor kids bring their trucks over on weekends. He has picked up two small side jobs from friends of friends that fold into his revenue without touching his commercial bay schedule.
