The car in a race shop is often lower and lighter than the truck that hauls it. If the lift is used exclusively for the race car, a 9,000 lb capacity is plenty and you can pick almost any home-garage configuration. If the lift is also used for the truck that pulls the trailer, we bump the capacity to 10,000 or 12,000 lb and rethink the arm reach because heavy trucks push out the outer arm limits.

Measure the car with the wing installed and the suspension at full droop; that is the number the lift has to clear.

Set the columns back from the roll-up by at least four feet if you want the door to close with the arms extended. That measurement is a common install-day surprise if you skip it.
