The real question is how many auto lifts installed side by side you need to keep techs from waiting on each other, and how a tech walks under the vehicle without tripping over an air hose or a drain pan cart every trip. We’ve walked into shops where the lift itself was fine, but it was pushed too close to a support column or a parts washer, and every oil change turned into a squeeze.

For pure lube work, a drive-on lift with open-front ramps almost always beats a wheel-engaging two-post if speed is the goal — there’s no arm positioning, so a tech pulls straight up and starts working. But that only pays off if the bay is arranged so the vehicle can drive straight through, not back in and three-point turn. We ask foremen to walk us through their actual traffic pattern before we recommend spacing, because the auto lifts installed on paper don’t matter if the shop still bottlenecks at the door.

That’s not a small fix — sometimes it means a partial repour before we can even start setting anchors, and that pushes the whole project out by days or weeks depending on cure time.
