The very first email from this owner told me almost everything I needed to know. He wanted to lift a passenger vehicle under seven thousand pounds, park it there for months at a time, and still drive his daily car in underneath. That combination — long-term storage plus everyday service access — points straight to a four-post. Two-post lifts are wonderful for a working shop that never leaves a car on the arms for more than an hour, but they are not designed to hold a vehicle for six months of an Iowa winter without cable creep and hydraulic drift.
The four-post we quoted him was a nine-thousand-pound drive-on with locking positions every three inches. That gave him thirty separate parking heights, which sounds like overkill until you realize the daily driver he wanted to store underneath was a lifted Bronco. A four-inch garage slab with wire mesh will pass a residential inspection and still not hold anchors under a loaded lift.
