A baseplate two-post lift moves the equalizer cables and hydraulic line from an overhead crossbeam down to a floor-level bar that runs between the two columns. That single change lets you use the lift under an 11-foot or even a 10-foot ceiling, because the total column height drops by a foot or more compared with an overhead. A symmetric lift puts the columns at equal distance from front and rear, which is the strongest configuration for heavy trucks but forces you to load the vehicle deeper into the bay and makes door opening trickier on a sedan. An asymmetric lift rotates the columns so the vehicle sits farther forward, giving you easy door access at the cost of a slightly narrower load rating on tall pickups.
Versymmetric, which is Rotary’s trademark and the setup on most modern Challenger CL10s, combines both. Short front arms and long rear arms let you spot cars in either position depending on wheelbase.
