Pulling a transmission is not the same load profile as a basic oil change or tire rotation, and it’s not treated that way by anyone who’s actually done the job. When a tech drops a transaxle with a jack under the vehicle while it’s sitting on the arms of a two post lift, the weight distribution shifts hard and fast, sometimes unevenly if the transmission jack isn’t perfectly centered. That sudden shift is exactly the scenario the arm restraints and locking pins are designed for.
