Most automotive two post lifts sold for independent shops and mobile-mechanic-style bays run on 220-240 volt single phase power, not 110v and not three phase. The power unit — the motor and pump assembly that raises the arms — is rated for a specific voltage and amperage, and that’s printed right on the unit and in the install manual. Guessing is the wrong approach; we check the actual power unit spec before every install.

Three phase power units exist and show up in some commercial and heavy-duty applications, but for a typical alignment-and-general-repair two post setup like this Council Bluffs bay, single phase 220v is the standard. The mistake we see most is a shop assuming any 220v outlet will do because a welder or an air compressor already runs on one nearby.
