Mobile work pays well until it doesn’t. Tire rotations in a customer’s driveway are fine in May. In February, on a sloped concrete pad in Ankeny with wind coming across an open field, they are miserable and slow. This tech told us he was turning down suspension work and anything that required more than a floor jack and two stands, which meant he was handing off the higher-margin jobs and keeping the low-margin ones. That math catches up with you. By the time he called us he had already run the numbers on a small leased bay and figured out that one lift would let him take back roughly a third of the work he had been declining.

Install Day and the Schedule We Kept
Install itself took a day and a half. Day one was footings — saw-cutting, excavation, pour, and then we let it cure per spec before anyone put an anchor in it.
