Price was roughly three times the used unit before install.
Stated that plainly, the used lift looks like an obvious win. But the comparison is not complete until you add what each one actually needs before a technician can put a customer’s vehicle in the air. On the used unit we budgeted a full cable set, new anchor bolts, fresh hydraulic fluid, a hose set given the age, and inspection labor. On the new one we budgeted freight and install. By the time both were operational and safe, the gap had closed to something closer to two-to-one rather than three-to-one — still a real savings, but not the bargain the auction listing suggested. What Actually Wears Out on a Fifteen-Year-Old Two-Post
The steel is rarely the problem. Oil Changes and Fluid Service: Why Arm Geometry Matters More Than Capacity
