Automotive two post lifts leave the entire underbody open from bumper to bumper, which is exactly what you want when you are dropping a drive unit or servicing a rear differential on a hybrid or EV platform.
We also hear shop owners worry that two post lifts require more careful spotting than a drive-on four post. That is true, but it is a training issue, not an equipment flaw. Myth: Any Concrete Slab Will Support a Two Post Install

We generally want to know if there is rebar in the pad, whether there is in-floor heat running through the anchor zone, and how thick the existing concrete is at each post location. We also ask early whether a forklift is on site, because moving an 800 to 1,200 lb column into position without one changes labor time and cost significantly. Myth: Two Post Lifts Don’t Work in Retrofitted EV Bays

Myth: Warranty and Cable Issues Are Rare Enough to Ignore
Every lift, regardless of brand, eventually needs cable or cylinder service. Planning for that wear ahead of time, rather than treating it as a rare emergency, keeps a shop from losing bay time unexpectedly.
Warranty terms and expected service intervals differ by manufacturer, and this is another area where model number matters more than brand reputation alone. Myth: One Lift Size Fits an Entire EV Specialty Fleet
Shops that plan to service everything from compact EV hatchbacks to full-size electric pickups sometimes assume one mid-capacity lift covers the whole range. It usually does not. We generally recommend matching lift capacity to your heaviest expected vehicle, not your average one, because automotive two post lifts rated too close to a vehicle’s actual weight leave no safety margin and can void warranty coverage on the lift itself.
