A lot of farm shop owners already have a flatbed trailer or a four post for storage, and they assume that’s enough. It isn’t, once you start doing actual suspension and shock replacement. A four post drive-on lift holds the vehicle by its tires, which means the frame and suspension components hang free and loose — exactly the access you need for shock towers, control arms, and sway bar links. Automotive two post lifts lift from frame contact points instead, leaving the wheels, suspension, and undercarriage completely open on both sides. That’s the whole reason shops doing this kind of work choose a two post over a four post almost every time.

Before you order, measure your actual clear height to the lowest obstruction, not just the roof peak, and account for any ladder racks, roof rigs, or overhead doors you’ll be running vehicles through. If you’re tight, ask about low-overhead-height column options rather than assuming every automotive two post lift on the market has the same stack height. We’d rather spend fifteen minutes on the phone confirming clearance than have a crew show up to a bay that won’t work.

Concrete and Anchoring — What Your Slab Actually Needs
