The honest answer for high-cycle inspection use is asymmetric, almost every time, unless your fleet is dominated by full-size trucks where the extra front reach of a symmetric setup earns its keep.

Anchoring, Concrete, and Overhead Clearance in Existing Bays

Retrofitting automotive two post lifts into an existing dealership bay means working around whatever concrete is already there. We’ve seen everything from a solid 6-inch slab to a thin 4-inch pour that needs a concrete assessment before anchors go in. If your building was built to older code, don’t assume the slab under bay three will support a heavier lift just because bay one does, since additions and repours over the years create inconsistent thickness across a shop floor.

Overhead clearance is the other constraint that surprises people.
