An RV and trailer service shop in northern Missouri called us wanting to add transmission service to their menu, which meant they needed to lift full-size chassis with the drivetrain intact and reach the transmission pan and cooler lines cleanly. They had been quoted a used two-post from a local auction and were weighing that against new automotive two post lifts we could deliver from our Midwest inventory. None of those individually is dramatic, but together they add up to a machine that is safer to operate and lasts longer between service intervals. On an RV chassis or a full-size cutaway van, the frame is usually straight and the pickup points are clean, but the drivetrain sits low enough that arm clearance under the transmission matters.

The new 15,000 lb machine we ended up recommending for the RV shop had a specific arm geometry that cleared cutaway van transmissions with an inch of margin, which is enough to work safely and enough to keep the tech from second-guessing the setup every job. The used machine they had been quoted was a slightly different arm design that would have caught the transmission cross-member on some chassis configurations, requiring alternate frame pickup points and slower setup times.
