This particular shop specializes in transmission service and drivetrain swaps for lifted trucks and overlanding builds, which means their daily lineup includes long-arm suspension kits, aftermarket bumpers, and rock sliders hanging well past stock pickup points. A lighter-duty two post lift can technically hold a 3/4-ton truck, but the arms often can’t reach past aftermarket armor to find a factory-rated lift point. This matters even more on a heavier-capacity BendPak two post lift because the arms themselves are longer and the leverage at full extension is greater. A restraint that’s half-engaged on a 10,000 lb lift is a problem; on a 12,000 lb unit lifting a loaded overlanding truck, it’s a much bigger one. Safety-Cam Engagement on a Two Post Lift

The safety cams are the mechanical locks that catch the carriage as it rises, and on this install we made a point of running the lift up and down slowly several times with nobody underneath before any vehicle touched it. You want to hear and feel each cam engage at its notch — it’s a distinct, solid click, not a soft catch. Concrete quality varies a lot across the lake towns and surrounding shops we serve, from older four-inch slabs poured decades ago to newer six-inch pads meant for heavier equipment. Before this install we pulled core samples and confirmed depth and rebar placement, because a BendPak 12000 lb 2 post lift under real transmission-pulling load puts serious lateral force through the anchors, especially with the arms extended for those lifted trucks.

Comparing Symmetric Versus Asymmetric Columns

This shop is now on a schedule where we check cable tension, arm restraint function, and safety-cam engagement periodically, along with greasing points and inspecting anchor bolts for any sign of movement.
