They’re keeping a car in the air for days or weeks at a time while they cut out rust, fabricate patch panels, or drop a body off a frame entirely. Restoration shops often want more overhead clearance than a typical service bay because project vehicles sometimes have roof racks, tall campers, or trucks with lift kits already installed. One detail that came up repeatedly in planning this install was how finely the lift’s height adjustment locks. For restoration and metal work, being able to set the vehicle at a working height every couple of inches — rather than only fully up or fully down — makes a real difference when you’re doing floor pan work versus underbody welding versus swapping a fuel tank.
