Month one: measuring the building before picking a model
The first visit was tape measure and flashlight, not a catalog. Ceiling height was the binding constraint at just under eleven feet at the low point of a trussed roof, with a garage door track that stole another few inches in the wrong spot. Runway length mattered too, because he wanted to park a long-wheelbase convertible on top and still walk around the front bumper. And the slab, poured in the late nineties, turned out to be a solid five inches with no radiant tubing — a pleasant surprise in a building that age.
