A storage car lift raises a vehicle to the ceiling, the mechanical safety locks engage, and it sits there for four to six months. The two use cases put entirely different demands on the equipment. Service lifts want fast cycle times, good arm geometry, and rugged safety systems for high-frequency use. Storage lifts want stable long-hold behavior, big drive-on runways, and mechanical lock ladders you can trust for a season at a time.
The right answer for storage is almost always a four-post, not a two-post. A four-post lift has drive-on runways, mechanical locks at each ladder notch, and geometry that supports a vehicle by its wheels rather than its pinch welds. You can drive a truck up onto it, lock it at height, and it will sit there quietly all winter without the hydraulic system holding pressure. Two-post lifts also have safety locks, but they support the vehicle by the frame, which is a heavier ask over a long timeframe.
