It Starts With a Site Conversation, Not a Truck in Your Driveway

Before anything ships, we want to talk about your building. That conversation takes fifteen minutes and saves entire days. We ask about ceiling height at the lowest point — not the peak, the lowest obstruction, because that’s what limits you. We ask about door tracks, unit heaters, sprinkler heads, air lines, and light fixtures, because all four of those routinely sit exactly where a two-post column wants to go. We ask what year the slab was poured and whether anyone has ever cored it. We ask about your electrical panel: single phase or three phase, available amperage, and how far the panel sits from the bay.

Most people are surprised by how much of the outcome is decided in that phone call. A customer near Marshalltown wanted a 12,000 lb two-post in a bay with 11-foot clear height. It fit, but only with a baseplate-style model instead of an overhead — a change we made on paper for free instead of discovering it with a crane already on site. Concrete Is the Whole Ballgame

Most 10,000 to 12,000 lb two-post units run a 208-230V single-phase motor needing a 30-amp circuit, and three-phase versions draw less but require the right panel. We coordinate with your electrician or bring one in, but that scope is separate and needs to be scheduled ahead of us — not the same morning.

Air matters too. Nearly every modern two-post uses shop air to release the mechanical safety locks, so you need a regulated air drop near the column. If your compressor is at the far end of the building, plan the run. Same story with drainage on inground units and with anchor-bolt clearance near floor drains and trench drains.
