Every lift manufacturer publishes minimum slab specs: thickness, PSI rating, cure time, and rebar requirements. Those numbers aren’t suggestions. A commercial slab evaluation checks your existing floor against those specs before any equipment shows up on a truck. We’ve seen shops order a heavy-duty four-post lift for a slab that was only rated for foot traffic and light passenger cars, and there’s no fixing that after the fact without breaking out concrete.
The evaluation also protects your investment on the business side. If a lift anchor pulls loose because the slab was undersized, that’s a liability problem, not just a mechanical one. Insurance adjusters and OSHA inspectors both ask about slab documentation after an incident, and “we never checked” is not an answer you want to give. Sometimes the fix is pouring a new footing pad in the exact footprint the lift needs, tied into the existing floor with rebar. Other times it means relocating the lift to a section of the shop with a better slab, which is often cheaper than tearing out and repouring.
