A 4-post lift is the friendliest tool for most routine EV service. The vehicle drives on, the wheels stay planted, and the pack sits between the runways with clean access from below. That matters because most EV service is battery-adjacent even when the battery does not come out: cooling loops, HV cables, orange harnessing, subframe bolts, and drive-unit mounts all live in the pack neighborhood. Mobile columns for battery removal
Battery pack replacement is the marquee EV job. To pull a pack, the vehicle needs to come up by the wheels with the pack still hanging from the chassis, so a rolling pack cart can slide under and receive the load. Mobile columns are the natural tool: four columns lift the corners, the pack disconnects, and the cart takes the weight straight down. Ground clearance under the pack
An EV pack often sits within an inch or two of the pavement at ride height. Any lift with pickup pads under the pinch welds needs adapter stacks that clear the pack, not just the frame. On a two-post, that means taller stack heights and constant attention to where the arms swing. On a 4-post, the runways sit outboard of the pack and the geometry is naturally EV-friendly. Two-post considerations for EV
Two-post lifts still have a role in an EV bay for suspension, brake, and drive-unit work where the pack does not need to come out.
