A standard gas-vehicle inspection focuses on frame contact points, exhaust clearance, and oil pan location. An EV lift service checklist has to account for battery packs that run the full length of the underbody, lower ground clearance, and lift points that manufacturers have moved specifically to avoid the pack. We’ve had techs tell us they assumed their existing arm setup would work fine on an EV, only to find the factory pinch points sat inches from where their pads naturally landed.

That’s why the first item on any real EV lift service checklist is confirming pad and adapter placement against the OEM service manual for that specific model, not just eyeballing it against a similar-looking gas trim. The second is verifying rated capacity against the actual curb weight of the vehicle, battery included — many EVs run 500 to 1,500 pounds heavier than their gas counterparts.
