It’s true that EVs are heavier than comparable gas vehicles — a midsize EV sedan can weigh 800 to 1,000 lbs more than its gas counterpart because of the battery pack. But capacity rating alone doesn’t tell you where that weight sits or how the lift’s arms need to reach to clear it safely.

What actually matters for EV alignment work is where the battery pack sits and how the lift’s arms and pads need to be positioned to avoid contacting it.
