Screw-drive or cable-driven two-post lifts that don’t use hydraulic-cylinder synchronization rely on that cable to keep both columns level, and if one side stretches or frays disproportionately, the platform can rack out of level. On a four-post, uneven cable wear shows up as one corner sitting slightly lower than the others, which is often the first visible sign something needs attention. Either way, cables are a wear item, not a lifetime part, and they need to be part of your regular maintenance plan regardless of which configuration you choose.
Inspection Intervals: What We Recommend

We ask about bay width, depth, and ceiling height on every quote call before recommending a configuration, because a lift that’s technically rated for the job but physically too large for the space is a bigger problem than most people expect. Which One We’d Recommend for General Maintenance Use
