Iowa homeowners with two cars and a two-car garage face a math problem that no amount of organization solves. A home garage car lift changes the equation — park one vehicle on the lift, park another underneath, and suddenly your two-car garage holds four wheels’ worth of vehicles with room to spare. For car collectors, boat owners, and anyone who wants a dedicated workspace without building an addition, a home garage car lift is the most practical upgrade available.

Auto Lift Services sells and delivers home garage car lifts across Iowa. We carry Atlas and BendPak storage lifts in multiple sizes and heights, and we help Iowa homeowners choose the model that fits their garage dimensions, ceiling height, and vehicle collection.

Who Buys a Home Garage Car Lift in Iowa

Car collectors. Iowa has a strong car culture — classic muscle cars, project builds, show cars. A home garage car lift lets you store your daily driver on top and keep your project car at working height below. Or stack two collector cars and park your daily in the driveway.

Boat owners. Storing a boat inside through Iowa’s winter protects it from snow, ice, UV damage, and the hassle of winterizing a tarp setup every fall. A home garage car lift rated for boat storage raises the boat overhead and gives you your garage floor back for vehicles or workspace.

Homeowners who need workspace. Lifting a car out of the way creates floor space underneath for a workbench, tool storage, or a project area. A home garage car lift effectively doubles your garage’s functional capacity.

Families with too many vehicles. Teenagers, spouses, seasonal vehicles, lawn equipment — Iowa families accumulate more wheeled things than their garages can hold. A home garage car lift is cheaper than a garage addition and requires no building permit in most Iowa jurisdictions.

Home Garage Car Lifts We Recommend

Atlas Garage PRO8000 — 8,000 lb Standard Height

The Atlas PRO8000 is the most affordable home garage car lift on the market at $3,799. It lifts 8,000 pounds — more than enough for any passenger car, SUV, or light truck — to a height of 72 inches (6 feet). Clearance underneath the runways is 67 inches (5 feet 7 inches), which fits most sedans, coupes, and compact crossovers underneath.

The PRO8000 comes on casters for positioning, with optional bolt-down anchoring for permanent installation. It runs on a 110V outlet with a 30A breaker — standard household electrical in most Iowa homes. No air supply is needed; the lock mechanism is manual.

Overall dimensions: 104 inches wide (without motor) and 206 inches long with the approach ramp. Between-column clearance is 94 by 157 inches. Drive-through width is 80 inches. Maximum wheelbase: 153 inches.

For Iowa homeowners with standard 8-foot garage ceilings, the PRO8000’s 83-inch column height means you will not be raising a tall vehicle to full height — but you can still store a sedan or coupe on top with a low-profile car underneath. With 9 or 10-foot ceilings, you have comfortable clearance for most vehicle combinations.

Atlas Garage PRO8000EXT — 8,000 lb Extra Tall

The PRO8000EXT is the home garage car lift we recommend most often for Iowa homeowners who want to park a truck or SUV underneath the raised vehicle. The extra-tall columns (98 inches) and 84-inch rise provide 79 inches (6 feet 7 inches) of clearance underneath — enough for a full-size pickup or SUV.

At $4,199, the price premium over the standard PRO8000 is $400 for 12 additional inches of rise. For Iowa homeowners with garages tall enough to accommodate the taller columns, this is an easy upgrade decision. You need a ceiling height of at least 10 feet, ideally 11 feet or more, to use the PRO8000EXT effectively with a vehicle on top.

The PRO8000EXT-L adds extra length for vehicles with long wheelbases (full-size trucks, extended-cab pickups) at $5,199.

Atlas Accessories

Aluminum approach ramps ($1,099.99): Extended-length ramps for low-profile vehicles — sports cars, lowered trucks, and anything with limited ground clearance. Standard ramps work for most vehicles, but if you are storing a Corvette or Mustang on top, the aluminum ramps prevent scraping.

RJ35 sliding bridge jack ($1,149): A 3,500-pound rolling jack that slides between the runways, allowing you to raise one axle of the stored vehicle for tire rotation or brake work without lowering the lift. Turns your home garage car lift into a service tool.

Floor panel set ($1,649.99): Eight panels that create a solid floor between the runways, transforming the raised platform into a usable upper storage level for totes, equipment, or a second vehicle with caster cups.

Drip trays ($26.49 each): Catch oil drips from the stored vehicle so your lower car stays clean.

BendPak HD-9 Series — 9,000 lb Premium Storage

BendPak‘s HD-9 series represents the premium tier of home garage car lifts. At 9,000 pounds of capacity and with air-lock safety engagement (press a button instead of pulling a manual lever), these lifts offer higher capacity and more convenience than the Atlas models.

Five configurations cover different garage dimensions:

The HD-9 is the standard model — 70-inch rise, 88-inch columns, 110-inch overall width. It fits standard two-car garages and provides solid clearance for most vehicle-under-vehicle combinations.

The HD-9XL adds 24 inches of runway length for long-wheelbase vehicles. If you are storing a crew-cab truck or full-size SUV, the extra length prevents overhang.

The HD-9ST is the narrow model — 100-inch overall width instead of 110 inches. For Iowa garages that are tight on width (older homes, garages originally built for smaller vehicles), the HD-9ST fits where the standard model does not.

The HD-9STX combines narrow width with extra height — 82-inch rise and 100-inch columns. This is the home garage car lift for Iowa homeowners with narrow garages but tall ceilings who want maximum clearance underneath.

The HD-9XW provides standard width with extra height — the tallest standard 4-post home storage option with 82 inches of rise.

All HD-9 models require 220V single-phase power and 30 PSI air supply (3 CFM) for the safety lock release. A small shop compressor or even a portable inflator that maintains 30 PSI is sufficient. Rise time is approximately 50 seconds. Each cable is rated at 14,400 pounds individually, with combined cable strength exceeding 640 percent of the lift’s rated capacity.

BendPak HD-9SW — Double-Wide Storage

For Iowa homes with three-car garages or oversized two-car garages, the HD-9SW is a double-wide home garage car lift that stores two vehicles side by side on top. At 202 inches wide (nearly 17 feet), it effectively creates a four-car parking solution in a space that normally holds two.

The SWX variant adds extra height (82-inch rise, 102-inch columns) for taller vehicles underneath.

BendPak HD-973PX — Tri-Level Parking

The ultimate home garage car lift for maximum density: three cars in one footprint. The bottom platform holds 9,000 pounds, the top holds 7,000 pounds, and they operate independently — lower one without disturbing the other.

At 173-inch column height (14 feet 5 inches), this requires an exceptionally tall garage — typically only found in custom-built or commercial-height residential buildings. But for Iowa car collectors with the ceiling height, the HD-973PX turns one parking space into three.

BendPak HD-7500 — Boat Storage

Three models designed specifically for storing boats above cars:

The HD-7500BLX provides 82-inch rise with extended length for boats up to 20 feet.

The HD-75BXT adds extra height for taller boats or vehicles underneath.

The HD-7500PBX is a pedestal model with 144-inch rise — designed for boats on trailers. Park the boat-on-trailer overhead and park a car underneath.

All boat storage lifts handle 7,500 pounds and require 208-230V power and 50-150 PSI air.

Iowa Garage Considerations

Ceiling height is everything. Measure your clear ceiling height — from the floor to the lowest obstruction (garage door opener, light fixture, ceiling joist). Subtract the height of the vehicle you plan to store on top (sedans: 56-60 inches, trucks: 72-78 inches, SUVs: 66-72 inches) and the column height. The remaining number is your clearance. If it is negative, you need a shorter lift or a taller garage.

Garage door height. Your home garage car lift sits behind the garage door. When the lift is raised with a vehicle on top, the total height must clear the top of the garage door opening so the door still operates. Most Iowa residential garage doors are 7 or 8 feet. Measure yours.

Electrical. Atlas lifts use 110V/30A — most Iowa garages have at least one 110V circuit, but you may need a dedicated 30A breaker. BendPak lifts require 220V — this may require an electrician to run a new circuit from your panel. Budget $200 to $500 for electrical work if needed.

Concrete. Iowa residential garage floors are typically 4 inches thick. All home garage car lifts work on standard residential concrete. If your floor has significant cracks or settling, have it evaluated before installation.

Delivery and Setup in Iowa

Auto Lift Services delivers home garage car lifts across Iowa. The lifts ship partially assembled and require basic assembly — column installation, runway attachment, and hydraulic/electrical connection. Most Iowa homeowners with mechanical aptitude can assemble these lifts in 4 to 8 hours. We also offer professional installation for those who prefer it.
