Wiring the pump and running the air lines
The pump on a two-post is usually a 220-volt single-phase unit drawing around 25 amps at start. That’s a dedicated 30-amp circuit with a properly sized breaker and a receptacle that matches the pump plug. The crew chief’s pole barn had a 200-amp panel already installed for welders and a compressor, so the electrical add was straightforward — a new 30-amp double-pole breaker, a run of 10-gauge wire to the pump location, and a NEMA 6-30 outlet. Total electrical labor billed by a licensed electrician came in around a half-day. Air lines for the safety-lock release and any pneumatic bridge jack accessories tapped off his existing shop compressor with a quarter-inch line and a filter-regulator. If your shop doesn’t already have compressed air, that’s an additional purchase, but almost every race shop already runs an 80-gallon compressor for impact tools.
