Start With Where the Oil Actually Shows Up

Check the Easy Stuff First

Before assuming the cylinder itself is bad, check every fitting along the hydraulic line with a wrench, snug anything that’s loose, and inspect hoses for cracking or swelling near the crimps. Next, look at the power unit and check valve. A weeping check valve or a worn seal in the power unit can mimic a cylinder leak because oil ends up in the same general area under the lift.
