It gets you running faster, costs less to install, and if you ever sell the house or want to relocate the lift, you’re not left with a hole in the concrete. We only recommend recessed installs for garages where floor space is genuinely tight and every inch of clearance counts.

Step 5: Plan Your Layout Around the Lift, Not Around Guesswork

Once the lift is in, it’s staying put — so map out your workbench, tool chest, and walkway space around its footprint before install day, not after. A mid rise scissor lift needs clear space on both sides for a technician to move around comfortably during alignment work, plus room behind it if you’re running an alignment rack or turn plates.

Sketch your garage layout on paper first, mark where the lift sits, and work backward from there.
