The lift itself usually isn’t the problem — it’s the electrical circuit it’s plugged into, the pad height it’s set to, or the assumption that any 220V outlet in the shop will do. Mistake #1: Assuming any 110V or 220V outlet will run it

Others buy a lighter, less stable configuration assuming they’ll move it constantly, then find it’s not rigid enough for precision alignment work once it’s actually loaded and locked in place.

Be honest with yourself and with whoever’s selling you the lift about how often it will really move. If it’s moving daily, prioritize a model built for that with a stable locking mechanism at every height increment. If it’s staying mostly in one spot with occasional repositioning, a heavier, more rigid configuration will likely serve an east-central Iowa alignment bay better long-term.
