A quick lube bay layout needs enough width on both sides of the lift for a tech to comfortably roll a drain cart, oil caddy, and parts bin without squeezing past a raised vehicle. We generally recommend at least three feet of clear walk space on the drain side and enough room on the opposite side for a rolling tool cart. But a two-lane quick lube bay layout works best when the lanes share a central aisle for parts and fluid delivery, rather than each lane being a fully isolated mirror image. That shared aisle cuts the number of steps your techs take between bays and keeps one person able to service both lanes during slow periods.
