What a Flush Mount Actually Requires Underground

Every scissor lift flush mount installation starts with a hole, not a lift. Depending on the model, you’re looking at a recessed pit anywhere from a few inches to over a foot deep, sized to the exact footprint of the scissor mechanism plus clearance on all sides. That pit needs formed walls, proper rebar, and a poured concrete base that meets the lift manufacturer’s engineering spec — this isn’t a job for whatever contractor happens to be free that week. We’ve seen pits poured too shallow, too narrow, or without the drainage slope built in, and every one of those mistakes gets discovered after the lift is already ordered.

It also matters for facilities running multiple lifts close together, where a surface-mounted unit’s ramps would eat into aisle clearance. Timeline and Sequencing on a Real Job Site

A flush mount job is not a one-day install.
