You need a stack that won’t creep down while a tech is buffing a panel for an hour straight. And you need something that recovers fast between cars because your bay throughput matters. Plan your bay layout with the deployed footprint in mind, not just the parked one.
Oil pan gasket work on a scissor deck
Body shops still do their own mechanical when a repair opens up something under the car, and oil pan gasket replacement is a common one after a lower-end hit. On a scissor deck, the pan hangs directly over the deck itself, which is different from a two-post where the pan hangs free. You have full-length working access to the front of the pan and the rear of the pan, but the very center of the pan sits above the beam. A full-rise scissor with a working deck gets the car overhead. If your shop only ever pulls wheels, a low-rise is cheaper, faster, and takes less ceiling.
