For a scissor lift for automotive pan work at home, standing beats kneeling every time. Kneeling for 90 minutes on a driveway-hardened concrete floor is a knee injury waiting to happen, and the torque wrench angles from a kneeling position are worse than from a standing position. If you can afford the height on the SRM10 and your ceiling clears it, go full rise. The MR6 is fine for oil changes and tire work but it’s not the right pick for regular pan projects.

Concrete requirements Waukee builders don’t always know

If your builder already poured a 4-inch slab, we can saw-cut and pour a proper pad after the fact, but it’s a day of demo and another day of pour plus cure time. It’s much cheaper to do it right at the initial pour.

Drive-on runway scissors are faster to load. You pull the vehicle up, chock the wheels, and press up. Pad scissors are slower because you have to spot the four pads under the pinch welds or frame points before you can lift. The trade-off is that pad scissors give you wide-open access to the wheels, which is what you want for tire and brake work. Drive-on scissors block the wheels behind the runway, which means you need a rolling jack or a floor jack to lift the axle for wheel service. For a home garage buyer who does mostly oil changes and pan work, runway is better. For one who does mostly tires and brakes, pad is better. Buyers who split the difference should pick a full-rise runway scissor with a rolling jack option.
