A hands-on inspection means running a rag along the cable length to catch snags from broken strands, checking for flat spots or kinking at the sheaves, and confirming there’s no visible corrosion at the anchor points. We’ve swapped cables at eighteen months on lifts that should have gone three years, purely because of winter contamination that went unnoticed for too long. Roughly a year after install, we came back out for the shop’s first full service on their semi lifts. The cables passed with room to spare, which validated the tighter monthly inspection habit the shop had adopted after our install walk-through. We did replace one sheave bearing that was starting to show early wear, a fix that cost far less than the alternative of an emergency service call after a cable failure.
