For a shop doing high volumes of differential and drivetrain work where floor space around the vehicle genuinely matters every day, that premium is usually worth paying — the productivity gain from an unobstructed floor adds up fast across a full service bay’s daily workload. For shops with mixed traffic that only occasionally need that clear-floor advantage, baseplate remains the more cost-effective choice, and it’s what we recommend more often than not for general heavy-duty service bays.
