Cylinders are not generic. Bore diameter, stroke length, rod diameter, port size and orientation, mounting style at the base, and the clevis or pin arrangement at the top all have to match. Two lifts that look identical in a photo can use different cylinders depending on production year, and manufacturers change suppliers mid-run without renaming the model. This is the single biggest cause of botched jobs we see: a shop orders by eyeball off a marketplace listing, the cylinder shows up, and the port is on the wrong side of the barrel.

Remove the column covers, back off the equalization cable tension, and disconnect the hose at the base port with a pan under it.
Then the top pin or clevis comes out, the base mount comes loose, and the cylinder lifts out of the column. That last part is where a helper matters. These are heavy, awkward, oil-slick assemblies and they do not want to come out of a column at chest height by yourself. Installation reverses the process, but the critical steps happen after: refill with the correct hydraulic fluid, bleed the system completely by cycling the lift several times through full travel with no load, then re-tension and re-equalize the cables so both carriages arrive at the same height. Skip the bleed and you get spongy, uneven lifting that gets misdiagnosed as a bad new cylinder. Budget most of a day for one side including cleanup, more if hardware is seized.
