This shop specializes in RV and trailer service — axle work, brake jobs, differential fluid changes, and pre-trip inspections ahead of camping season. The building itself wasn’t the problem; the floor plan was. Every unit that came in for service sat parked in a working bay whether it was actively being worked on or just waiting for a part, which meant the shop could only run as many jobs as it had floor space, regardless of how many technicians were on the clock.

Install Day and the Early Adjustments Nobody Warns You About

Install day went about as expected for the first lift — anchoring, alignment, cable tensioning, and a load test. About six weeks after install, the shop ran its first real test: a differential fluid service on a dual-axle trailer that had been sitting on the storage lift for several days waiting on a part for an unrelated repair. Instead of rolling the trailer off, doing the fluid service on the ground, and then re-storing it, the technician simply lowered the storage platform to working height, performed the differential fluid drain and refill with the trailer already positioned, and raised it back to storage height when finished.

The differential service took about the same time it would have on the ground, but eliminated an extra move-in, move-out cycle that would have added twenty minutes and required another technician to help spot the trailer. The biggest shift wasn’t dramatic — it was simply that units waiting on parts stopped occupying working bays. A trailer waiting three days for a hard-to-find axle seal now sits on the storage lift instead of blocking a bay that could be running brake jobs or another differential service. The shop’s throughput didn’t require adding a technician or extending hours; it required freeing up floor space that was already there, just inaccessible.

The owner told us the storage lift paid for itself faster than they expected specifically because of how many small jobs it unblocked, not because of one big job. Differential fluid changes, brake inspections, and light axle work all moved faster once technicians weren’t waiting for a bay to open up.
