Rolling jacks slide across the runways and lift by frame or axle. Most run air-over-hydraulic and click into safety locks about every couple of inches, which lets you set a working height rather than fighting all-the-way-up or all-the-way-down. If your bay does mixed work — some tire, some brake, some heavy — a four-post with rolling jacks is usually the right center of gravity for a full package of vehicle service lifts & jacks.
Two-post lifts and shop floor jacks
Two-post lifts still own the independent shop world for a reason. Full wheels-free access, faster arm setup on cars they know, smaller footprint. We sell Rotary SPO12 and Challenger CL12 in this class all day — a 12,000 lb symmetric two-post is the workhorse of most Iowa independent shops.
Pair a two-post with a good floor jack and you have covered maybe 80 percent of passenger and light-truck maintenance work.
