For a shop doing steady CV axle volume, we usually steer owners toward the mid tier. The extra arm reach and faster cycle time pay for themselves within a year through added throughput, especially if you’re running two techs through the same bay in a day. Going cheap on arm reach means constant repositioning and awkward angles that slow every job down and add tech fatigue over a full shift.

Configuration Decision Tree: From Budget to Bay

Here’s the simplified version we walk customers through on the phone. First, what’s your primary vehicle mix — if it’s mostly passenger cars and light trucks under 9,000 lbs, a standard asymmetric two-post covers you. Second, what’s your ceiling height — under 12 feet pushes you toward a low-overhead-style column. Third, what’s your power situation — confirmed 220V single-phase circuit versus needing an electrician visit changes your timeline more than it changes your lift choice. Fourth, how many bays are you equipping — multiple simultaneous installs change freight and install scheduling significantly.

Once those four answers are set, the actual lift selection narrows fast. It’s not the flashiest configuration, but it’s the one that keeps CV axle and half-shaft jobs moving without surprises on install day.

Install Day: What Actually Slows Things Down

The single biggest delay we see on install day isn’t the lift itself — it’s floor prep. Older shop floors in converted buildings or older commercial spaces sometimes don’t meet the minimum concrete thickness or cure time for anchor bolts. We always recommend a floor check before your install date is locked, not after the lift is already on the truck.
