Match rise to the work: 48 inches of rise is fine for wheels and brakes and terrible for a transmission pull. Write down the three jobs you do most, then pick the rise that covers all three.
Step Four: Electrical, Air, and the Stuff Nobody Puts on the Quote

For nearly all commercial-grade power units, the answer is yes — 208-230V single phase on a dedicated circuit, typically 20 to 30 amps depending on motor size. Some smaller portable scissors run on 110V, and that is genuinely useful for a team that travels with equipment, but the trade-off is a slower lift cycle and a smaller motor working harder.
Air is the second forgotten item. Most two-post and four-post designs use a pneumatic lock release, so you need a shop air line reaching the column. Not a big deal, but it needs to be in the plan. Then there is the concrete: minimum four inches of 3,000 PSI cured at least 28 days, and more for higher-capacity equipment.
