The practical consequence is that the question “is my lift under warranty” has no useful answer. Here is the sequence we follow, because the order matters. First, serial number and model off the data plate — not the sales brochure, the plate on the column. Second, original purchase documentation with an install date, since coverage usually starts at installation rather than shipment. Third, a diagnosis with photos: a leaking cylinder gets photographed at the rod, a cracked weld gets photographed with a scale reference, a failed lock gets photographed engaged and disengaged. Fourth, we submit to the manufacturer with the maintenance history attached.
Approval times vary by brand and by how clean the file is. A well-documented hydraulic claim on a current-production model often turns around in a few business days with parts shipping direct. A structural claim on an older lift takes longer because an engineer reviews it. What kills timelines is missing serial numbers, no install date, and photos taken from twenty feet away.
