Mistake 1: Ignoring Ceiling Height and Bay Clearance

A full-rise scissor lift can travel 6 feet or more into the air, and if you’ve got ductwork, sprinkler heads, or a low truss in the way, that lift becomes a hazard or gets stuck at partial height forever. Before you buy, walk your bay with a tape measure and account for the tallest vehicle you’ll lift, plus the lift’s own travel height, plus a safety margin. Scissor lifts need a specific power supply, and buyers frequently don’t check their shop’s electrical setup before ordering. Mistake 7: Choosing Price Over Total Cost of Ownership
