Run your hand carefully along the length of an exposed cable section — with the lift unloaded and lowered — and feel for burrs. Manufacturers publish minimum diameter tolerances for a reason, and it’s not a formality — it’s the difference between a cable holding its rated capacity and one that’s quietly operating with a smaller safety margin than the lift was designed around.
