A vehicle up on a 2-post lift at full rise, with the arms extended and a lift-off cab or a truck body raised for frame access, needs real headroom above it. We shifted the column layout a few feet from where the customer originally wanted it so the doors, the lift, and the vehicle traffic pattern all worked together instead of against each other.
Choosing the Right Model for Metal Work and Frame Access
Restoration and fab work is hard on equipment because vehicles come in without full drivetrains, with cut frames, or with weight distributed differently than a stock car. We steered this customer toward a heavier-rated 2-post from our Challenger commercial line rather than a lighter-duty consumer lift, since frame-off work often means asymmetrical loads and extended time at full rise while grinding, welding, and fitting panels. A lift built for daily commercial use holds up better under those conditions than something designed for occasional oil changes.
