Fleet garages love the two-post format for three reasons: floor access is completely open, tire and brake work moves quick, and the footprint fits in almost any existing bay. Compare that to a four-post drive-on and the difference is obvious — when you’re pulling wheels off a plow truck twice a week, you don’t want a runway in the way. We size arm length to the longest wheelbase in the fleet, not the average, and add a symmetric or three-stage front-arm option for anything with an unusual weight bias. Ceiling height drives the overhead-versus-baseplate decision. Under 12 feet clear, go baseplate. Between 12 and 13 feet, run the numbers on the tallest vehicle plus rise-height clearance.
