The Hydraulic Cylinder Seal Conversation

Rebuild kits are stocked and inexpensive relative to the cylinder itself. When a fleet cylinder starts weeping past the wiper seal, the correct workflow is to pull the cylinder, disassemble, replace the wiper seal, the rod seal, and the piston seal from the manufacturer’s rebuild kit, hone the bore if there is glazing, and reassemble.
