If you’re a licensed electrician, an electrical helper working toward your journeyman card, or an industrial electrical tech looking for something more interesting than pulling wire on the same commercial build for the eighth month in a row — we should talk. We install and service automotive lifts across the Midwest and Southeast, and every lift has real electrical work behind it. This is a full-time or part-time role based in Ames, Iowa or Lakeland, Florida, with regional service travel from those bases.

The Role

Install and service the electrical side of automotive lift systems — from a two-post lift running on 220V single or three-phase, to four-post commercial lifts at 480V, to mobile column charging banks, to alignment systems tied into shop networks. You’ll be:

Working from lift-manufacturer install manuals and shop electrical drawings.
Installing service disconnects, running conduit, terminating three-phase distribution, wiring control boxes and safety cams.
Troubleshooting existing installations that aren’t behaving — bad limit switches, worn contactors, controls glitches, out-of-spec sensors.
Working alongside our automotive install & service techs. Sometimes lead, sometimes support, depending on the job.
Talking directly to the customer about what you found and what needs to happen next. This isn’t a heads-down role — you’ll represent us at the shop.

Pay

$18–$45/hr depending on skill and licensure. Entry-level helpers we train up land in the low $20s during paid training. Journeyman-level electricians with three-plus years of industrial or commercial experience come in at $28–$36/hr. Licensed masters with heavy industrial background are at the top of the range. Negotiated in person after we’ve talked about what you actually bring.

What You Bring

Comfort with 208/220/240/480V three-phase installations. If you can wire an industrial disconnect and pull a service, you can install our lifts.
Valid driver’s license, clean-ish record.
Willingness to travel a regional service area. Home most nights.
Ability to read install manuals and shop drawings.
Preferred: any state journeyman or master license, industrial or controls experience, or hydraulic-lift-specific experience. All bump you up the pay scale, none are required to start.
