Why Heavy-Duty Truck Shops Add a Car Lift Drive On

Pits work for heavy-duty exhaust and driveline access, but they are slow to enter and exit, they collect fluid and debris, and they limit the number of trucks you can service in parallel. A car lift drive on with the right capacity moves an entire vehicle off the floor in under a minute, gives the tech every angle on the underside, and clears the bay for the next truck immediately after. Exhaust work in particular benefits. Long exhaust systems on medium and heavy-duty trucks need continuous under-vehicle access from the manifold to the tailpipe, and a drive-on gives that clearance on both sides of the truck without frame contact points blocking the view. Install Cost: Labor, Slab, Anchors, and Power

Cable Inspection: The First-Year Interval

Every car lift drive on uses lifting cables. Cables are the wear part on a drive-on. They stretch, they fatigue, and they eventually get replaced. ANSI/ALI standards require an annual cable inspection at minimum for shop-duty lifts, and manufacturer manuals recommend a quarterly visual check by the shop’s own staff between annual pro inspections.
